Do you remember a time when you felt very confident, calm and in control – perhaps when you’d just achieved something significant that you were pleased about?

Don’t you wish that you could have that feeling when you’re standing on the platform, speaking in front of a crowd?

Well, in fact you can. Here’s how.

Take a few minutes to yourself and go off somewhere that you’re not going to be disturbed. Turn your phone off and shut the door.

Now sit comfortably, close your eyes, and relax your muscles. If you’ve had a stressful day, just let all that stress and tension leak out of your body and evaporate, like mist on a road under the heat of the sun. You might want to go through your body from head to toe, just gently touching each part of your body with your mind and giving it permission to start to relax.

Breathe deeply, imagining you’re breathing through your navel, and let go of more tension with each breath out.

When you’re feeling comfortable, think about that memory of confidence, calm and control. Think about the place you were in at the time – what it looked like, even how it smelled. Think about how your body felt and the emotions you were feeling. What were you hearing when you felt so calm and confident? Did you taste anything?

Take all those senses and make them as clear and strong and vivid and loud and bright as possible in your memory. Imagine you’re turning up the volume on a radio, making the memory really clear.

When you’ve captured those feelings as clearly as you can, just press one of your fingers firmly with your thumb for a few seconds. That’s called an “anchor”, and it’ll be your signal to yourself to recapture those feelings any time you need them.

Let go of the pressure and take your time coming back to your normal awareness of your surroundings. Have a stretch.

Now, next time you’re up in front of a group speaking, press your thumb to your finger in the same way – and feel those feelings of calm, confidence and clarity come flooding back.

It sounds too simple to work – but it really does.

One mistake professional speakers and aspiring speakers make is not using the publicity they gain with print and other forms of media to help them gain more speaking. If you have been quoted, published, interviewed, or mentioned in news or industry media all that effort wasn’t for just for fun, it was to position you to get more speaking engagements and higher paid speaking engagements. Here are five tips for using your publicity to get you hired.

1. Put your best publicity efforts on your website media page. Your website, information sheet, brochures, and email signature should tout you as an expert. All the publicity you get in print media is evidence that each publication deems you to be an expert. Make sure that your professional speaking information is accessible and able to be downloaded by meeting planners from your website.

2. Follow up with past clients and potential clients. People you’ve worked with in the past are always the easiest to market to. They need to know when you get published or interviewed in an article. This keeps re-establishing your worth to them and makes you a valuable resource for their business.

3. Contact the association directors of the industries in whose trade publications your articles have been featured. Many publications are the journal of the trade association for that industry. If the editor felt that the membership was interested enough to print your article or interview you, then the executive director may be interested in hiring you to speak at one of their conferences. Contact the right people with the right information and you may well be on your way to a completely booked year.

4. Send a letter to professional associations associated with the industries in which you have had past clients or in whose industry publications you have been featured. If a publication isn’t in a particular association’s own journal but one of interest to their industry you can still find the professional association and pitch them. Note that a related professional magazine had your article recently and you know this is a topic of interest to their members.

5. Send your updated information to speakers bureaus or meeting planner services. Speaker’s bureaus are in the business of promoting their clients. They promote with vigor those who are the easiest to get booked. Each bit of data you give them to pitch you to their clients makes you one of the easy ones. Meeting planners often also use online sites and services to find and book speakers too. Make sure you are listed with online services as well.

Good luck in your efforts to become a professional speaker or take your speaking career to the next level!

An outline shows you the entire structure of your speech.

This enables you to see whether you’ve arrange main ideas and supporting details in the best possible way.

It also helps you to make sure that you have given each part of your speech enough emphasis.

There are three types of outline:
1) Full-Text outline: The complete speech in outline form.
2) Keyword outline: Only use keyword or the trigger word to help speaker.
3) Note-card outline: As you speak, you use your notecard as your outline.

Here is one of the way you can create and outline for your speech.

First Step: Write down your topic, objective, audience and audience attitude.

Example:

Topic: How to make money through website
Objective: Sell coaching membership
Audience: Retiree who wants to make extra income through online business
Audience Attitude: Enthusiast

Second Step: Build your framework (outline skeleton)

I) First main idea
    A) First subordinating idea
        1) Reason or example
        2) Reason or example
II) Second main idea
    A) First subordinating idea
        1) Reason or example
        2) Reason or example
    B) Second subordinating idea
        1) Reason or example
        2) Reason or example

—————————————————————————————-

Legend:
Body of the speech is indicated by roman numerals (I,II,III,IV)
-Every roman numerals only one idea each
Subhead is indicated by capital letters (A,B,C)
Subdivision under the subhead is indicated by numbers (1,2,3)
-You need to subordinate your idea properly. Every subhead and subdivision should related logically with your main idea.

—————————————————————————————-

Third Step: Write each specific points you intend to cover

Example:

I) Swimming is one of the best sports to play.
    A) Provides all-round exercise
        1) Improves cardiovascular system.
        2) Build agility and stamina
    B) Is enjoyable
        1) Make new friends
        2) Feel invigorated and refreshed

Fourth Step: Revise, reword and re-arrange your ideas.

All you need is to start drafting your outline. No outline is perfect for the first time.

This is why you need to have this step to further polish your outline.

It is better to take few hours rest before amend your first draft.

You’ll probably see at least one thing you can improve when you take a fresh look after the rest.

To write an outline for public speaking, below is one of a great example used by many professional speaker.

I) Introduction
    A) Grab your audience attention.
    B) State your topic and objective
    C) Preview your speech
II) Body
    A) State first main idea
        1) Reason or example
        2) Reason or example
    B) State second main idea
        1) Reason or example
        2) Reason or example
    C) State third main idea
        1) Reason or example
        2) Reason or example
III) Conclusion
    A) Restate your main idea
    B) Ask them to do the action you want them to do.

Outlining your speech is a crucial step in clarifying ideas.

Failure to do so will make your speech less effective and not moving.

There is no guarantee that a solid outline will solve all your speech problems, but the good one will help you organize your thought in logical manner.

Start outlining your speech today!

They know that “The Power to Persuade is the Power to Succeed”.Men and woman who have made impressions on society were good speakers.

Getting in front of other people tend to make us nervous. If we have to make a presentation to a higher authority person from us, such as our boss, we are not only nervous, but might get anxious and panic.

Thus, this will make us look stupid and clumsy.

Being calm and being able think straight when we on stage always be the most desire skills that had we longed for.

The good news is, it is not as hard as we always think it is.

You only need to shift the way you think and voila! You’ve just exceed your time limit on stage and the audience still wants more from you.

Here’s another three more great technique you can practice to brush up your presentation skill and to always be calm during presentation.

It’s not about me

When we’re onstage, we tend to be too concerned about ourselves.

Our mind always think the negative side of ourselves.

We’re too focus on ourselves and tend to fear of what others will think less of us, we afraid that they’ll loose respect for us and assumed that they will realise how anxious and afraid we are.

The thing is, the more consumed we become to ourselves, the more phsycological distance we create between ourselves and our audience.

Instead of focusing to ourselves, what we should do is, we should focus on the audience.

Our mind should think;

1) What is the best way to serve the audience.
2) What do they need or want that we can supply.
3) How can I, be a value to this audience.

In other words, start shifting your mind to customer / audience oriented.

Make them feel important.

Everything you say must be about them, and not about you.

You’re what you think about

Instead of thinking and believe all the negative thing that will happen, what you need is you have to start to believe in all the good things that might happen.

For example;

1) Instead of worrying that you will failed and look stupid on the stage later, you should believe that the audience will love your presentation and look high on you.

2) Instead of worrying that you will embarrased yourself later, you should believe that you will look great and charming to the audience.

You need to eliminate all this worries and negative belief.

Why?

Well, as soon as you think that you will do great on the presentation later, your mind and body, spritually and physically will transform your thought into actions.

And.. this same goes to your negative thought.

As Ear Nightingale says “What a mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve”

Creating a lively event

Jokes and laugh always turn a dull environment into a lively one.

When you’re about to start your presentation, picture all the funny things in your mind.

Instead of thinking all the bad things you will do later on the stage, you should imagine how to turn your flaws into a jokes or a funny action. Picture yourself flying around the hall, jumping around the stage or some others 1001 things you can imagine.

This will make you relax and smile before you do your presentation.

During public speaking, try to create a Q&A session, tell jokes or tell a story which can make your audience to laugh.

When you achieved this, you’ll soon realise that the room is lively and you will feel safe and energetic.

This is important for a presentation as it will create a safe zone for you as a speaker.

The sooner you create, the better it will be for your presentation.

There you are, just a simple technique which will bring a tremendous different to your presentation.

The ordinary speaker always think about how they will perform and always think about themselves. Where else a great speaker always puts their audiece first. They believe in themselves and they always think what is the best way to serve their audience and customer.

Be a great speaker. Always aim high.

As a wise man once says “Shoot for the moon. If you miss it. You’ll land among the stars..”

Stage Fright. The word themselves make me nervous. According to the book of lists, the fear of speaking in public is the #1 fear of all fears. The fear of dying is #7!

People who have this glossophobia or public speaking anxiety can experience all kinds of symptoms such as heart pound, shaky hands, sweaty forehead, mouth goes dry and the stomach feels like a blender on a high speed.

Celebrities alleged to suffer from this apprehension include Abraham Lincoln, Mark Twain and Laurence Olivier.

All you need is to accept that you have this problem and learn how to control it.

By creating the right mindset and follows the tips below, in no time you’ll be develop your talk, persuade your audience and ready to accept any invitation that requires you to be in the spotlight.

Write down your commitment

Like most endeavors, you need to have a commitment. You need to vow to yourself that you’ll do your best to overcome this apprehension.

Take a paper and pen, write down your goals and promises.

Your goal is to find the solution for your fear, commit to make slow and steady improvement and perform necessary action which will help you to progress to another level.

You need to tell to yourself; “I’ve had it! Today will be one of the most important days in my life. I will do whatever it takes to overcome my public speaking anxiety, I will face, learn and practice to be a great speaker.”

Do this whole-heartedly.

Share this commitment with two of your most trusted and supportive friends.

Tell them that from time to time, you’ll be updating them of your progress.

Develop a compassion toward yourself

There are people who tend to hate themselves because of having this deficit.

They get angry, frustrated and even hurt themselves.

Why?

Because they got tired of creating thousands of excuses and running away from doing a public speaking.

Instead of hurting yourself and your feeling, what you need is to develop a compassion toward yourself.

Do a self-talk. Tell yourself that this problem that you have is a common one and you do have the ability to comprehend with this fear.

Accept your disadvantage and speak positively.

In other words, don’t fight the wave but be friendly with it.

Relax and Shift Your focus

You may want to imagine this, if you resist the wave, frantically try to get away from it, you will be panic, loose confidence and energy in the process.

The more you try to fight it, the more power it will have over you.

But, if you relax, float on your back and get your mind straight, you be riding the wave naturally until it fade.

The key to have this situation is to feel relax, breath naturally and focus to your mind to a beautiful thing.

If you trap in this panic situation:

1) Sit down or lie down.
2) Take a deep breath with your mouth and nose. Push the air deep into your belly. Hold it for few seconds.
3) Slowly exhale through your mouth, and count from 100 to 1, backwardly.
4) Do this five to ten times.
5) Start to shift your focus to other beautiful things such as pictures on the wall or trees outside your window.
6) Get you mind to work on the details from your view such as, what is type of the tree, how old is the tree or some other questions you might ask.

The idea is, you need to shift your focus from having to worries about the presentation that you going to do, to a beautiful and happy thought that make you feel safe.

With this three absolute fundamental practice, it should not be a problem for you to start doing it.

Write down your commitment, develop compassion toward yourself, relax and shift your focus will help you to be on the right foot in overcoming your public speaking anxiety.

Todays, a lot of people die from a heart attack. The most common illness around me is a stroke.

It is very possible to get stroke when you are forty.

People get stroke from various way and the easiest way is from a stressful life.

Lacking of knowledge in time management is the main couse of having a stress life.

Creating your goal, define your priority and tracking your time is the only habit you should implement to live life to the fullest.

How to start?

Number one: Set your goal.

To manage your time effectively, you need to know very well of what is your definite chief aim.

In other words, what is your goal?

A person with no goal is like a ship without a direction,

Ninety-nine percent of ships that leave the harbor will reach their destination eventhough they don’t have any idea what’s in front of them.

Why?

Because the captain knows very well where to go.

And, so are you.

You need to have your direction.

For example;

Your ultimate goal for this year is to have $10,000 in your saving account.

All you need to do is to divide this amount into month and week.

$10,000 / 12 months = $833.00 per month

$833 / 4 weeks = $208 per week

This should be your short-term goal = having $208 by the end of the week

Your medium-term goal = $833 by the end of the month

Your long-term goal = $10,000 by the end of the year

All your effort should toward achieving these goals. Plan yourself to strike every week $208. By the end of the year, you’ll be having $10,000 in your saving account.

Breaking you goal into a smaller chunks will give your a clear, achievable picture. You’ll be more confident and won’t be overwhelm by having a big goal in your life.

Every time you’re in doubt, just ask yourself this; “Is this the most logical step I should take in order to achieve my goal?”

Number two: Set Your Priority

From your goal, now you should have a plan and brief idea of what your should do everyday.

A successful life is nothing more than a lot of successful days which put together.

This is also means that you need to plan your everyday really well.

How to do it?

I got this idea from a Lead The Field by Earl Nightingale.

It only requires a piece of paper.

1) Before you go to sleep, list down six most important task you need to do tomorrow.

2) Order them by priority. Number one shall be the most important and number six will be the least important.

3) The next morning, take your list and look at item number one only. Do this task until it’s successfully completed.

4) Then move and complete the task number two.

5) Do this repeatedly until task number 6.

6) Practice this for the next seven days

The idea is, taking things one at a time, in their proper order.

Staying with one task until it’s successfully completed before going on to the next.

Number three: Track your time

Like doing your monthly budget, it is very essential for you to track you time.

Create a habit to jot down all the things you’ve done yesterday.

By having this log / diary, review it each month, then you’ll realize where have you spent you time.

This will tremendously make yourself a better time manager at the end of the day.

By now, I really hope to see you smile. For me, everybody deserved to be successful and create the life that they wish.

Getting the right priority will bring your to a better, healthy life for you and your family.
